Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead, is a survival horror game where a small band of survivors band together to make it out of a city filled with zombies looking to chew your flesh. Sounds like every survival horror style game there is in the market. Well your right, but unlike those games, Left 4 Dead is a little different then the slower style of games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

Left 4 Dead takes the survival horror genre into a whole new aspect. That aspect is a cooperative multiplayer game where teamwork plays a major role in your success of failure. This means that if you stray away from the group or get lost...you will die as the zombies close in on you, beat you down, and devour you. If you do feel that your getting lost, you can see an indicator of your teammates to give you an idea of where they are so catch up with them fast or else you know what happens. With that said, each player must learn how to work together with your teammates especially when you shooting a lot of mindless zombies. In other words, if one or two players are shooting maybe you might hold off on shooting until another player is reloading. If one or your teammates is down, go over and heal them. The more you work together...the better off your team will be when you make it off a level.

The levels feature a multitude of weapons including pistols

(which you can dual-wield), machine guns, shotguns, and more. You'll also have first aid kits which you can carry so that you can heal yourself or be unselfish and heal your teammates. These will only be found in "safe spots" so try not to run out of ammo or health or you will die. Players will also have to open up doors to make progress through the game. Remember teamwork, have one open the door and other players ready to shoot because you never know what is behind the door that makes Left 4 Dead a unique experience.

Not only will you be taking on zombies, Valve has other surprises up their sleeves for you to face. There are Boomers which are large zombies that vomit on you which can attract alot of zombies to tear you apart.
There are also zombies that look like behemoths which take a lot of ammo to take down. There are also zombies that have a 50 foot tongue and go for your neck and take the air right out of you. You can also you the environment to take zombies down including setting them on fire. It's very important to pay attention to your surroundings because you never know what can happen.

Don't just think that Left 4 Dead is just a multiplayer game. You can also play the campaign alone with AI controlled bots. Online play is also just not a cooperative game, but also a competitive game for up to eight players either locally or over Xbox Live. How about a game where half the players are the survivors and the other half are the blood-thirsty zombies or even the boss zombies. Now that sounds like alot of fun.

Left 4 Dead
This is just a small taste of what you can expect on Left 4 Dead. I've had the opportunity to play this game

at PAX and came away more than impressed. Valve has assured everybody that the experience is different every time you play which leads to plenty of replay value. I can assure you this game will be fun and scary at the same time. Now that I got you out of your seats and excited, get your zombie slaying and teamwork skills ready.

Left 4 Dead will be available on November 20th.
