A sequel you can't refuse? Well that remains to be seen but so far EA's follow up to their 2006 The Godfather videogame looks to be a promising and immersive gaming experience. This time around players will take on the role of one of Aldo's lieutenants. I hope you didn't get too attached to Aldo the first time around. Apparently Aldo's met with an early demise mostly due to the fact the he just didn't fit in to the story line of the second game, so of course its up to you to take his place. The second game will mirror the second film for the most part and will have tie-ins from previous game. As you can probably imagine the main focus of the game is for you to help your character earn his way up the mafia ranks to become a Don.

It's no big surprise that to do so you will have to make business decisions and become familiar with busting caps into mofos who disrespect. EA promises that this time around your actions in the world will play a much heavier part when it comes to building relationships with the other factions in the cities. Game strategy will be a big key factor in how this game is played but EA promises there will still be plenty of people to shoot to keep the mix interesting.

This time around the story will be taking place in the hippie love inspired 1960s and your game won't just focus on one city, or state for that matter. Your travels will include New York as well as Florida and even Cuba. I fully expect to see a mission here involving you smuggling good Cuban cigars back to the states for Michael Corleone, what better way to suck up and get on his good side right?

One new feature to mention that has the potential to be really neat, or be the downfall here is that the game will encompass both top down strategy elements as well as third person action game play. EA promises there will be more than enough tasks to do and numerous different ways to complete each one. This should make for a good amount of game play and variety. Some missions will be familiar as they will be dictated by the story of the movie, and some will take place outside of the movie's story. Don't worry about having to do all of this alone. As you grow your control you will hire made men to assist you. You have the ability to hand pick crews to take with you on missions. Each character will have strengths and weakness so picking the right crew maybe crucial to your success. Like all minions you will have to keep an eye on your crew and make sure you accommodate them or problems could arise should you fail to do so.

The new "Don view" will allow players to see an overhead view of their territory complete with icons showing the many different rackets you have going on. Picking up all the locations needed for a racket will provide you with bonuses and perks that you can use to help further your cause. Here you can keep an eye on not just your rackets but what other familes are doing as well. It will be a sort of meta-game all unto itself.

Look for The Godfather 2 to muscle its way onto the shelves sometime next year!
