Ahh...celebrities. Every once in awhile they do great things, but then again all we care about is when we see their mug shots or when they show up on the latest episode of TMZ acting like a complete jackass. How many of you wanted to knock out Kanye West after his outburst at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards just to let everyone know that Beyonce had the greatest video of all time during Taylor Swift's victory speech? Well now you get your chance (sort of) to KO an avatar lookalike of him and a host of others in Avatar Showdown on Xbox Live Indie Games.

Avatar Showdown, from JForce Games, is a fighting game that allows you to use your customized avatar and knock out various celebrities. Punch out people like Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump, Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator, Mario, and so much more. Get good enough at knocking them out and you could find yourself in a one on one showdown with Chuck Norris himself. I kid you not. If your somehow able to get past him, you'll end up in the most epic showdown of all time and it's not Beyonce. I won't spoil the details, but I'll tell you that you must see it to believe it.

The gameplay in avatar Showdown is very simple. The main idea of the game is to simply knock out your opponent before they knock you out. This is not like your typical fighting game with a wide variety of punches, kicks, and special moves. All it takes is just one hit and they're down for the count. Each button on the d-pad can be used to deliver the big hit. Basically it all boils down to how fast can you react. Avatar Showdown is all about timing. Once you enter a showdown and each celeb makes their taunt, you wait for the screen to begin the fight and you hit a button. Hit any button to early and the showdown starts over yet stresses patience. Hit the button to late and well you know what happens.

During my extensive gameplay, I found the fights to be pretty easy and quite forgiving in the first couple of showdowns. The difficulty then ramps up rather quickly after that as you take on the tougher opponents. By the time you face off with Mr. Walker Texas Ranger, you might as well get ready to hit the continue button because he is that tough. Remember that this is Chuck Norris we're talking about here. He can cure cancer with his tears, he can swim through land, and even the Boogeyman has to check the closet for him.

The only downside to Avatar Showdown is the fact that there is a lack of options to choose from. Once your able to complete the single player portion of the game on the hardest difficulty, there really isn't much of a reason to keep playing. You will have seen all the characters and laughed at their lines so what else is there to enjoy. There is a multiplayer option where you can play a friend even over Xbox Live, but the action gets old really quick.

For only 80 Microsoft Points, Avatar Showdown literally delivers the punchline right away without the need for a storyline or other ridiculous options. You can also check out their next game called Unstopable which is looking pretty good so far. Overall, I can say that this is a good game to fill in an afternoon of fun and that's about it.
