"The Cylons were created by man. They rebelled. They evolved. They look and feel human. Some are programmed to think they are human. There are many copies and they have a Plan."
The series may be over, but the creators of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica decided to give fans one last glimpse into the world they re-created. The straight to DVD movie entitled "The Plan" moves away from the fight for human survival, and takes us into the perspective of the Cylons. At first you may think that the Cylons are no more than killing machines, but after watching "The Plan" you realize that there's more to them. They also have a conscience.

"The Plan" centers around the Brothers Cavil (Dean Stockwell). One of the Cavils is on Caprica meeting with Number 6 (Tricia Helfer), and the other is on Picon with Ellen Tigh (Kate Vernon). The Brothers Cavil had a plan to wipe out humanity in one swift stroke which leads us to the attack on the Twelve Colonies. Unfortunately, things don't go accordingly to plan since a handful of survivors have escaped the nuclear holocaust across the colonies. Along with the remaining humans are a handful of Cylons in which the Cavil on board Galactica has an idea to mobilize them. As for the Cavil on Caprica, he joins up with the resistance fighters led by Samuel Anders (Michael Trucco) who's leading guerrilla attacks on the Cylons before eventually meeting Starbuck. Throughout the movie, you'll notice a difference between both Cavil models with the one on Galactica who wants to wipe out the human race, and the other on Caprica who is not sure whether wiping out humanity is a good idea.
While watching "The Plan," you'll realize that a lot of the things you see are things we've already seen before. Other than the Cylon attack (which is a great scene, especially with the Cylon hybrid monologue), and a handful of scenes on both Caprica and Galactica, this movie is basically a collection of clips from the television series meant to tie up some loose ends. So, if you were wondering how Doral became a suicide bomber, how one of the Number 6 models was trying to label Gaius Baltar as a traitor, "Boomer" Sharon sabotaging the water supply, or what was with Leoben's obsession with Starbuck, then you've come to the right place. Only one new character is introduced in the movie, Giana O'Neill (Lymari Nadal), who is a mechanic onboard Galactica. What Giana doesn't know is that she is married to a Number 4 model who is also being recruited by Cavil to do his dirtywork. I just want to add that the interaction between the Cavil on Galactica and the Number 4 model leads to some of the best drama in the movie.

Overall, "The Plan" is a well executed movie, but gives the feeling of deja vu. While exciting at moments, the lack of original content makes it more like a recollection of things we already know from watching the TV series. If your a fan of Battlestar Galactica, then this movie is a must buy to add to your collection. For everyone else, just wait until it plays on the Sci-Fi network.
